Find your voice in film.
“London Film School is the UK’s oldest film school (1956), born from anti-establishment roots in a Brixton butcher’s shop. That rebellious, artistic spirit remains core to the institution but had disappeared from its brand expression. We developed a new communication strategy that projected confidence and authority as a global leader while reconnecting the school to its spiky, punk-edged DNA.”Mark Martin, Strategic Director
“Framing is fundamental to filmmaking—a deliberate choice that defines perspective. The red frame, positioned outside and above the logotype, mirrors this principle: it represents the intentional creative decisions students must make to find their voice in film.”Tim Dee, Creative Director
“As a long-standing partner, Rabbithole brings not only outstanding creative expertise but also a deep and nuanced understanding of who we are and what we stand for as an institution.”Holly Blake, CMO, London Film School
“Rabbithole were always willing to go the extra mile, whether that meant refining details, accommodating evolving needs, or providing guidance. We are incredibly proud of the results and grateful for the continued partnership. ”Holly Blake, CMO, London Film School
“Their work on our visual identity and website has exceeded our expectations. They approached the project with genuine care and curiosity, ensuring that the final outcome feels both contemporary and true to our heritage. The new identity and digital presence capture the spirit of our school with clarity, confidence, and creativity.”Holly Blake, CMO, London Film School
Project Info
LFS ranks among the world’s top 15 film school (Hollywood Reporter), yet its ageing brand identity and website failed to reflect this standing.
The school was simultaneously undergoing significant changes with a new CEO, new courses, and new premises in Covent Garden.
Long perceived as internationalist and exclusive—a consequence of its high fees and highly selective admissions—LFS has expanded access to local and UK-based students through new, more affordable Master’s programmes and the launch of a short-course school: London Film Works.
In 2025, LFS partnered with Rabbithole to develop a new brand identity, website, and suite of marketing materials to reinforce its standing as a leading global film school, strengthen industry connections, celebrate the school’s illustrious alumni, and root the identity firmly in its seventy-year heritage while signalling its recent progressive evolution.
London Film School is the UK’s oldest film school (1956), born from anti-establishment roots in a Brixton butcher’s shop. That rebellious, artistic spirit remains core to the institution but had disappeared from its brand expression. We developed a new communication strategy that projected confidence and authority as a global leader while reconnecting the school to its spiky, punk-edged DNA.
The type system employs Waldenburg by Kimera, a direct and robust typeface that anchors the identity with confidence, clarity, and authority. Its condensed weight scales boldly across digital and print, yet sits back comfortably at understated sizes.
We refined the LFS red to a brighter, digital-ready tone and resisted introducing new colours. The school has anchored its identity in red since the 1960s—most visibly in its iconic red entrance doors. We decided to reinforce this brand equity and retained the monochromatic approach.
Red blocks and framing strengthen the visual identity’s robust structural clarity. Framing is fundamental to filmmaking—a deliberate choice that defines perspective. The red frame, positioned outside and above the logotype, mirrors this principle: it represents the intentional creative decisions students must make to find their voice in film.
The LFS website had become a barrier to attracting talent and applications. As the primary touchpoint for global prospective students, the outdated, cluttered site actively undermined the school’s reputation. Redesigned and built in-house at Rabbithole, the new website positions LFS where it belongs: as a world-leading film school training the next great filmmakers and storytellers.
“Working with Rabbithole on the evolution of the London Film School’s brand has been an exceptionally positive experience. As a long-standing partner, their team brings not only outstanding creative expertise but also a deep and nuanced understanding of who we are and what we stand for as an institution.”Holly Blake, CMO London Film School
